Destruction of animal proteins

One of the major driving forces behind PDM Group's development of its bubbling fluidised bed (BFB) technology has been the need to meet Government requirements for the effective destruction of animal proteins in the combustion process.

The UK destruction standard is so strict that 100 grams of residual ash from the combustion process may contain only 5 milligrams of proteinaceous material - i.e. 500 parts per million (ppm).

PDM Group's process achieves results of less than 0.5 milligrams per 100 gram - only 50 ppm; no other MBM combustion plant in the UK is able to come close to these levels of safe destruction of animal protein.

ISO 14001 Accreditation

PDM Group's Widnes BFB plant has achieved ISO 14001 accreditation, reflecting the company's determination to achieve the highest standards of environmental performance.

Waste Incineration Directive (WID)

As the PDM BFB technology was designed from the outset to combust animal proteins to the highest possible environmental standards the plants are fully compliant with the new European Waste Incineration Directive (WID).
