By-Product Processing
PDM Group collects and processes around one million tonnes of animal by-products from every stage of the food chain, from the farm to the processing factory and right through to the supermarket shelf.
All grades of animal by-products are handled and processed in the safest and most efficient methods possible.
PDM Group's By-Product Processing division operates five rendering plants in strategic locations across the UK serving the farming, food processing and retailing sectors. The division services over 10,000 individual customer sites each week.
Each PDM rendering plant has been the subject of continued investment in new technology and environmental control systems to ensure that product quality, safety and emissions standards are consistently second-to-none.
PDM Group was the first company to apply HACCP systems to the rendering industry as the basis of all its internal quality schemes.
Each plant is operated under strict supervision of Government Veterinary Inspectors to guarantee that every aspect of its operation, from raw material sourcing and reception, through processing to end product quality, meets the complex and stringent requirements of the European Animal By-Products Regulations (1774/2002/EC).
In addition, PDM Group's rendering plants operate under tough environment controls laid down in the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control legislation (IPPC).
